iPerf3 Client & Server

Version 1.5.0

1. Privacy First

iPerf3 Client & Server is designed with privacy as its core principle. We believe that network testing tools should respect user privacy above all else.

2. Data Collection

We do NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal data:

  • No user accounts or authentication
  • No usage analytics or tracking
  • No crash reporting to external services
  • No device fingerprinting
  • No location data collection
  • No network traffic logging
  • No third-party SDKs or advertising

3. How the App Works

All network testing happens directly from your device:

  • Network tests connect directly to iperf3 servers you configure
  • Test results are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework
  • Server profiles and settings are stored only on your device
  • No data is sent to any intermediary servers
  • The app works completely offline for local server mode

4. Local Data Storage

The app may store the following data locally on your device:

  • Server profiles: Hostnames, ports, and configuration of your iperf3 servers
  • Test results: Historical test data including speed metrics, timestamps, and server info
  • App settings: Preferences, theme selection, and notification settings
  • Export files: CSV/JSON files you create (stored in app's documents directory)

All data is protected by iOS sandboxing and device encryption. You can clear all data at any time through Settings > Data Management.

5. Network Connections

The app makes network connections only to:

  • iperf3 servers you configure: For running network tests
  • Public server directory: Optional, for browsing public iperf3 servers

No connections are made to analytics, advertising, or tracking servers.

6. Permissions

The app requests the following permissions:

  • Local Network: Required to discover and connect to servers on your local network
  • Notifications: Optional, to notify when background tests complete

All permissions can be managed in iOS Settings.

7. Third-Party Services

We do NOT use any third-party data services:

  • No analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Firebase, etc.)
  • No advertising networks
  • No external crash reporting (we use optional Sentry only for crash reports you choose to send)
  • No cloud storage or sync services
  • No social media integration

8. Data Security

All local data is protected by:

  • iOS app sandboxing (data is isolated from other apps)
  • Device encryption (when device is locked)
  • Apple's Data Protection API
  • Secure network connections (TLS where applicable)

9. Data Export

When you export test results:

  • Files are created locally on your device
  • You control where files are shared (Files app, email, etc.)
  • Exported data is not transmitted to us

10. Children's Privacy

The app is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any data from children or any other users. The app does not require any personal information to function.
